So, it might come as a surprise to some of you that even the owner of a metaphysical supply co would be stuck in the broom closet. But I am. With no hope of ever stepping out of it either, I'm afraid. I know that I cannot even discuss my beliefs and spirituality with my parents, but I'd be interested to hear about everyone else's experiences have been if your family is not understanding or accepting. Tell your stories!

I'm in the closet as well, although I think my younger daughter (YD, who lives with me) knows, and I'm sure my elder daughter (ED) suspects. All of my family, except YD, are Christian, and most are hard-core, "born again." (YD is atheist, which we also keep quiet about around the rest of the family.) ED knows I do "magickal" things with my granddaughters; but she sees it as fantasy play, similar to playing dress up and pretending to be princesses. ED is afraid of bugs, birds, and other small woodland creatures, so I'm the only source of nature education my grands have. I don't want to jeopardize that by freaking my daughter out (she's not a super-hard-core Christian, but she does lean rather conservative).
